Farakh announced as 100th leader in residence

I am thrilled to be the 100th member welcomed into the prestigious Leaders in Residence programme at Leeds University Business School.

As a Leader in Residence, I am part of a network of seasoned business professionals who generously offer their time to impart valuable expertise and insights to management students at Leeds University Business School.

In my role as the Founding Director of True Green Energy Group, I am dedicated to advancing a just energy transition, striving for net-zero in a manner that is equitable, inclusive, and addresses the needs of both companies and individuals.

When asked about my motivation to volunteer for this initiative, I shared that I have been an active alumnus since completing my Mining and Engineering Degree (Hons) in 1997 and MBA in 2000 at Leeds University. Throughout my career, I remained engaged with the Business School and the University, participating in networking and alumni events, collaborating with the Priestly and Bragg Institutes, and working out of Nexus.

Coming from a background unrelated to mining and oil, I started my early career in these industries. Understanding the challenges faced by students who lack industry exposure, especially in the post-COVID era where work experience may be limited, I am eager to assist those looking to enter the energy transition sector. I believe that graduates from all disciplines will play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions for achieving and sustaining net zero—the future of our planet depends on it.

I extend my gratitude for the warm welcome as a Leader in Residence and express my appreciation to all current Leaders for bringing real-world insights into the curriculum. As the Leaders in Residence programme at the Business School celebrates its 10th successful year, I am honored to contribute to its legacy.
